Summer Theatre Youth Institute
Summer Youth Theatre Institute (SYTI) Entering grades 1-5, June 21-July 2, 2010; 9:00am-noon; Entering grades 6-12, June 21-July 9, 2010; 1:30-4:00pm
Looking to sharpen your theatre skills? All elements of theatrical production – from script development to the final show – are explored within WWU's Performing Arts Center. Develop characters and scenes, speak and move effectively on stage, work in an ensemble, search the costume and scene shops, and rehearse for a grand finale performance on the stage of Old Main Theatre. Visit with WWU Summer Stock Productions cast and crew for inspiration and support.

WWU Lakewood Jr. Sailing Camp
WWU Lakewood Jr. Sailing Camp will be at Lakewood Water Sport Facility, which is one of the premier facilities in the Northwest and located on the south shore of Lake Whatcom. Program runs from June 20-August 19, 2011
All students must know how to swim. Campers must be 11 years or older or over 100 pounds in weight.
A small boat, Alpha training sloop (14 feet), is the ultimate platform for developing basic sailing instincts. All boats and equipment are regularly checked and maintained by professional staff.Sailors can progress through four levels: Beginning Sailing, Intermediate Sailing, Beginning Racing, and Beginning Windsurfing.

Odyssey of Science and Arts: June 27-July 1 and July 18-22, 2011.
Enthusiastic and dedicated WWU faculty, instructors and staff have created academic enrichment offerings that will excite students entering grades 4-9. The resulting courses spotlight areas of their expertise and take advantage of WWU campus. These courses offer a quality and uniqueness that is hard to find elsewhere. Students attend classes, participate in field trips, work on projects in specialized labs, and engage in a wide range of other hands-on activities which make learning interactive and fun.

Western Kids Camp
Western Kids Camp Kids participate in hands-on and interactive morning academic enrichment activities and programmed afternoon recreation based on the weekly theme.Theme-inspired sessions include nature, science, culture study, the arts, and more.
Program Runs: July 11-29, 2011
Students utilize college classrooms, labs, equipment, playing fields, and the award-winning Wade King Student Recreation Center (WKSRC). Campers are divided into groups according to age and participate in age appropriate activities in the classroom and during recreation.
Western Kids Camp is a partnership between Campus Recreation and Extended Education & Summer Programs.

Discover new creative dance movements, explore techniques and soar to new heights during Western Arts Preparatory Academy (WAPA) dance classes for Youth.
WAPA's summer dance classes are designed for students, entering grades K-5, who want to develop basic dance skills or have basic technical dance training and want to expand their skills.
All students will culminate this dynamic intensive dance experience with an evening showcase performance in Old Main Theatre!

Grandparents "U"
SUMMER 2011 July 14-15 Thursday and Friday
Save the Date! Join us in summer 2011 for an intergenerational program on the WWU campus. This program is designed for grandparents and grandchildren (ages 7-14). Choose from exciting classes taught by WWU faculty. Each class provides opportunities to learn, have fun and create lifelong memories. Grandparents "U" is offered in partnership with WWU Extended Education and Summer Programs and the WWU Alumni Association.
